Mortgage Broker Websites – What Google Wants you to know!

By

Mortgage broker websites are popping up all over the place! You’d be hard pressed to find a loan officer who doesn’t have a website these days. Unfortunately, when it comes to lead generation, you’d also be just as hard pressed to find a loan officer who is generating business from his/her site.

Why is that? Well, for starters, it has a lot to do with the fact that most loan officers have no clue how to get their site listed onto the front page of Google. Fewer still know how to properly manage their site for lead generation… Let’s have a look:

Mortgage Broker Websites – Google Tip #1
Google demands content – UNIQUE content! If you purchased a website from a website company that sells the same design and text to multiple people, then you’re behind the 8-ball on this one… Google tends to ignore content that is repeated over and ver again, and will only index and rank the content while it is fresh. So what I’m telling you is this. Unless you’re the very first person to get that website and content onto the web, then you’re likely just another “duplicate” that will be treated as such by Google.

If you’re not showing up on the front page of Google, then 91% of your prospects are ending up on competitive websites, and well, you know the rest of that story…

Mortgage Broker Websites – Google Tip #2

Google wants you to be popular! That’s right, Google places a lot of weight on the level of your sites popularity. Links, backlinks, page rank and other factors all combine to tell Google how many people care about what you have to say.

Sounds intimidating right? “How will little ol me compete with all those other websites out there to grow popular?” It’s not all that difficult surprisingly, but you have to know some of the tricks of the trade. We’ll chat about some of those “tricks” in the video below.

Mortgage Broker Websites – Google Tip #3

Relevancy – Google wants you to be on topic! In other words, if you run a website about mortgage loans, they want to know that the site actually talks about mortgage loans! Sounds like a crazy thing to insist on right? Unfortunately, there’s quite a bit of “spam” websites out there that like to bait and switch you into visiting their sites.

Google doesn’t put up with this, and will blackball your site if they find out such practices are being used. Thankfully, this is not a huge concern in the mortgage industry. Stay on topic, and update your content often to gain “brownie pints” with Google. It’s well worth the time investment when you rank on the front page for target keywords. Hordes of relevant traffic visiting your site each day = lots of great opportunities for leads!
