Effective mortgage marketing is needed now more than ever. More people are using the web to shop and “pre-shop” than ever before!
That’s right. As the market changes, so does people’s shopping habits. As more information is readily available via the web, fewer people are using the Yellow Pages, and traditional media to shop. In fact, 2008 was the first year where more people used the internet to find local businesses than they used the Yellow Pages! Here’s the official graph:
So what does this mean to you? It means that the more expensive traditional marketing vehicles: direct mail, print ads, newspaper advertising etc are less effective than they used to be! On the flip side, the much more cost effective online strategies are growing more effective than ever before! (How often do you have the chance to spend less yet enjoy better results?)
Is this just me talking here? Most certainly not! Click Z, Marketing Sherpa, The DMA, Yahoo ROBO, and Jupiter Research have all published reports within the past 6 months reporting that online advertising is increasing while offline marketing is decreasing in todays economy. 91% of web users never click past page #1 of the search results. Amazing huh? This means that if you’re not showing up on the front page of the search engines, then you’re missing out on 91% of your potential leads! Not good!
The silver lining that can be found within this statistic is that the solution is relatively simple: Just get your website onto the front page of the search engines! Ok, ok… I admit that I over-simplified that a tad bit. But it does serve to illustrate how clear the path to success is in this instance.
Marketing is all about getting the most exposure as humanly possible. That’s what we can do with the web!
